Donor Dollars in Action: 2017-18 Grants at Work
Already this year, donor dollars are making a difference for students in Great Valley schools.
Students in elementary school are using 10 Ozobot Programmable Robots. As students are learning to program the robots, they are also strengthening their teamwork and problem-solving skills and applying math and computing concepts to real life applications.
STOP MOTION ANIMATION
Students are learning stop motion animation at Great Valley High School. Through a teacher Venture Grant that provided digital cameras to the art department, the curriculum was enhanced to include the development of these skills. Students are learning the techniques of stop motion animation and are developing a stop motion animation with a soundtrack.
READ TO LEAD
Families who do not have internet access at home will receive Kajeet devices. ESL students will also receive Kindles to support reading instruction and learning at home.
Great Valley High School’s Autistic Support works to successfully transition students to job placements outside of the high school, the students need access to many pre-vocational opportunities in the classroom setting. 60 stations will be established for students to help them learn/prepare for employment.
BLUETOOTH CHEMISTRY SENSORS
Sensors are in place and being used in HS classrooms to enhance students’ lab experiences.
This project will create a 360 degree virtual reality tour of Valley Forge National Park. Teams of students have been designing and printing the custom-made brig that will hold the cameras. They are experimenting with setup and hope to have test footage sent to the consultant soon.
